Brownfield

On Monday, January 24, 2011, the Brownfield Review Committee met to discuss the Packard Square developer's application for Brownfield tax increment financing. The meeting was held in 4th floor Jury Selection Room in the Municipal Center, starting at 5:30pm. The Packard Square project is located on the site of the former Georgetown Mall at 2510 Packard Street. The developer has said that the project is not economically viable without the brownfield financing.

The City's Brownfield committee consists of Ann Arbor City Council members Marcia Higgins, D-4th Ward; Sandi Smith, D-1st Ward; and Stephen Kunselman, D-3rd Ward. The developer will complete his report and come back before the committee on February 28, 2011.

Annarbordotcom has an article about the Brownfield meeting. With any luck, the Ann Arbbor Chronicle will publish one of its comprehensive articles about the meeting, soon. Additionally, the Georgetown Neighborhood Association typically sends out a summary of such meetings and we will post that summary here.
