Planning

Public Process
The following remarks were included in a recent email distributed among opponents of the down town conference center.
"We really need to start with basic questions that were ignored during the conference center debate, and might be ignored again if we focus on a specific alternative, such as the Commons or Central Park.

"What do local residents and visitors like so much about A2's downtown that keeps us all coming, that has parking almost as hard to find on a Wednesday evening in January as a Saturday in July?  What does A2's downtown have to "sell" that should be encouraged?  What other things might we want it to have? "

The answers to those questions should guide our downtown planning. Planning that merely seeks growth will undermine the qualities and values that make us value this community so much. Planning for quality will bring about organic growth.
